March 28, 2025 Update: Due to a decree-law announced on March 28, 2025, eligibility for Italian citizenship by descent is currently uncertain. The proposed law would limit recognition to those with a parent or grandparent born in Italy. Parliament has until May 27, 2025 to amend or confirm this change.
Because of this, we are temporarily unable to confirm eligibility for new inquiries. We completely understand how frustrating this may be — and while we're happy to speak with you and offer guidance, definitive answers may not be possible until the law is finalized.
